John David Mullins, MD, FACS, is Chairman of the Department of Surgery and Co-Director of the Wound Center at Piedmont Hospital and a Visiting Professor of Surgical Anatomy at Emory School of Medicine, Atlanta, GA.
Also in private practice in Atlanta, he is board certified in plastic and reconstructive surgery and wound management and a certified hyperbaric specialist. Research interests include the acute and chronic effects of traumatic brain injury.
Dr. Mullins is Chairman of the Board of Directors of Georgia Surgical Expeditions, a group of physicians and volunteers who donate their time to provide free surgical care to indigent populations. Since 2005, he has made several trips to the Philippines, where he has performed cleft lip and palate repairs and removed tumors. As a Colonel in the Georgia Air National Guard and State Air Surgeon, he joined other physicians traveling to the Gulf Coast to assist in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina.
Dr. Mullins was a flight surgeon in the U.S. Air Force.
