Hello my name is Cathy and as a teenager acne left my face scarred beyond repair or so I thought. I had a very thorough and informative consultation with Mary-lyn and Dr. Kaila. They answered all my questions and put to rest my most genuine fears.
My journey began meeting Dr. Kaila on January 5, 2006 with a free consultation at the Blue Water Surgical Centre about Lap Banding surgery. After many years of believing that it was going to be a 2 year wait for a major gastric bypass surgery; Dr. Kaila convinced me that I was a perfect candidate for the Lap Banding and this could be done in a couple of months.
10 days prior to my surgery date of February 25, 2005 I was on a strict pre-surgery diet of yogurt and water ONLY!!! And still I was unable to weigh myself on my bathroom scales (WOW).
Within months and with the help and encouragement of the clinic staff, pounds started falling off. In words I can’t tell you how I was feeling. I wasn’t hungry and anticipating my next meal anymore; the Lap Band was doing its job. My visits to the clinic for a "fill" and "stepping on the scales" were something I looked forward to now. At times I was unrecognizable to the staff in reception with all the weight that I had lost, they always greeted me with a hug and felt like part of their family.
1½ years later I am down 149lbs with 32 to go. They say, "life begins at 40" and I was on the road of "life ending at 40" so I know I would not have been able to do this without Dr. Kaila, the surgeons, the Lap Band, and the staff at the Blue Water Surgical Centre.
I am a fifty year old woman that has had a problem with weight for about twenty years. I had the band surgery at the Blue Water Surgical Centre performed about 16 months ago. The Doctors, Nurses and Staff were very courteous, gentle and informative whenever I was in doubt about anything. I have lost 50 lbs. and I am still going to the Blue Water Surgical Centre for more fills and they are very supportive. This was the best money that I have ever spent. This has changed not only my life for the better, but it has also been very enjoying for time spent with my husband and family as I can do things that I previously could not do for a long time.
